I recently installed Vista beta 2 on my machine, (eMachines w2646) and no matter what I try, the mouse driver (p/s2) will not load for me, so I have no mouse at all when I am using the OS. This is really annoying, and I cant figure it out. I've loked everywhere for a solution for about 4 hours now and found nothing. anyone have any suggestions?

No mouse in vista
Sorry, failed to add that i installed the 32 bit, not the 64 bit version....

Interesting, I was working on an eMachines pc tonight with a PS2 mouse and had the same problem. Can you use the keyboard to get to device manager and open up the mouse properties? I am wondering if the error is Code 10: cannot start device Also, do you have a USB mouse to try?

i actually use a MS intellipoint mouse which is a usb. Ive tried it in the usb, ive tried it in ps2 with an adapter, and Ive used my moms generic mouse that came with her compaq 5 yrs ago. Ive used the keyboard to get into the device profiles, and it does indeed say error 10 drivers cant be loaded. Ive tried to manually load the drivers, and it says that they cant load. So are we looking at a problem with the emachines mobo not being up to par with the mouse drivers? What sucks is that every single other driver works for me, im on a belkin 54g wireless card, ati raedon 9200 video card, bluetooth phone adapter, all work flawlessly. The only other thing that I dont have working, but probably only because i dont have a mouse to mess with it, is my webcam. But thats non-essential as of yet so i dont care.

Interesting..I also found another post in one of these newsgroups from someone else who has an eMachines with the same issue. If anyone reading this has an eMachines pc with Vista on it, please tell us if your mouse is working and what type it is (PS2 or USB) This seems like a very strange issue, I would think that a PS2 port is a PS2 port...but this could be an emerging issue with eMachines.
I'll be trying to gather some information for my customer, and will post anything I find in here.

I'm mouseless and nothing seems to work. I've tried 3 different mice, including a brand new MS mouse. Vista dosn't recognize the moue. And the keyboar mouse controls won't move the cursor. I therefor can't click to accept the MS license terms. I'm dead.
The computer is a 2002 vintage DELL 4500 that had been running XP professional for over a year.
